Gimme a BIG MAC with a side order of adorable!

We have a new addition to the family. His name is Big Mac and we picked him up today. He's 6 weeks old, a salt and pepper miniature schnauzer. Oh man he's cute! The kids are so excited . . . o.k. it's me that's so excited. He's so small and he'll probably only be 10 lbs fully grown. Enjoy the pictures!

My model

The sunset was gorgeous lastnight. Shane and Ty were in the backyard hitting balls and they called for me to come look. I grabbed my camera and headed for the car to drive away from the houses for some clear shots. Paigey just had to come, so I found her flipflops and loaded her into the car too. By the time we got away from the houses the pink and purple were gone. OH well. We did get some nice shots by the fountain. Paige is such a little model. She knows just what to do and strikes her own poses without my direction. I think I've corrupted her. I just love the colors in this shot.

Homework

I watched Ty doing his homework yesterday afternoon, and I couldn't help but take a picture. When he concentrates, he sticks his little tongue out. I don't remember ever having to concentrate that hard on picking out a vowel. Sometimes I wish I could remember. Paige just wants to do whatever Ty is doing, so she sits down with us in the afternoon to do homework too.

Interesting conversations sparked by the doctor's office

We visited the doctor today. I have strep throat and Tyler has an ear infection. The doctor's office isn't a scary place for my kids . . . that isn't a good thing. Posters, biohazardous waste bins, stirrups, a very pregnant nurse practicioner, all of these things make for some interesting family home evening conversations. Tonight's topic revolved around wicked King Noah, Abinidi, and oh yeah, how do babies get out anyway? These topics tie in so well with each other, don't you think. Shane was trying everything to avoid that conversation right before oreo pie, but I just told it how it is. I guess it didn't totally destroy Shane's appetite since he downed two big pieces shortly thereafter. Mondays nights are interesting. Oreo pie may never be the same.

Weirdo With a Beardo

We just got back from the dollar movie theater. Evan Almighty was the choice, and it was pretty cute! Ever since the advertisements began, the kids have wanted to see it. There is a line in the advertising that says Evan is "the Weirdo with a Beardo." A couple of months back we were at Walmart and Paige walked right up to a guy with a beard, pointed at him, and exclaimed "mom, there's a weirdo with a beardo!" Needless to say, I was a little embarrassed, especially as she continued to point and repeat as we headed for the door. I just hoped that the guy had seen the commercials and knew what she was referring to. That's what I get for planting the kids in front of the tv more that I should!

Haircut

I thought I'd give Paigey a little hair trim Wednesday. Shane is home on Wednesday mornings until 11:00. He told me to chop it . . . . so I did! I'm just not one of those "hold on to that long hair" kind of people. Don't get me wrong, I love her long hair, but that's the fun of it, it grows back. Just like a chia pet. I think it looks so cute. Her hair is so fine and straight that it just hangs perfectly. Here is a before and after!
